Is it My Story, or Yours?

Hey Friends!

Today I'm going to write about something that's been on my mind a lot lately- Comparison.  It's human nature to compare ourselves to others. I mean take a look at how many people we're surrounded by on a regular basis. How can we not start to feel as if others are better at things than we are? Well the truth is, is that someone probably is better at certain things than you are, but you have to remember this; their story isn't yours
There are billions of people in the world, but every single 1 has a different purpose, a different story to live out. That's almost surreal for me to think about. Out of every other person out there in the world you are the only you. Imagine if everyone had the same story. All the excitement would be taken out of life and it would be dull as crap. Everyone was made with their own unique beauty so there is no need to compare ourselves to others.

Think about this next you start comparing yourself to other.

Long Time No Talk... An Update

Hey Friends!

Wow, its been a long time since I've done a post; sorry! Liv and I decided to take a break and wait to start posting again in the summer. Now since school is out we have time to make good quality posts!

I'm not sure when Liv is going to start posting again, but I'm going to start posting every Tuesday again so make sure you follow us!

P.S.- I'm also in the works of making my own blog! Please come check it out and follow me for more! I will be posting 3 times a week on there as well. Hidden with Beauty

Birthday Weekend / Update

Hey ya'll! I feel as though I haven't talked you all in so long. Sorry I haven't posted yet, but with the end of the school year coming to a close ( 37 more days! ) life has just gotten a whole lot busier. Today I thought I would just share with you guys all thats been going on and some more excited things coming up!

  • First of all last Sunday was my birthday! I finally turned 16! For my birthday Liv and I headed down to Raleigh to do some serious shopping. One of my favorite stores we went into was Lush, a bath and body type store ( hint- there will be some of those products in my May favorites post!) We finished the night off by going to The Cheesecake Factory and it was sooo delicious. I would highly recommend the fried mac & cheese balls, chicken teriyaki, Reese's peanut butter cheesecake, and the red velvet cake cheesecake. I haven't gotten my license yet, but I'm definitely getting it sometime this month.
  • I am so excited for Pretty Little Liars season 6 to start! The promo video looks super creepy. You should go watch it!
  • Later this month: Well this coming Sunday is Mother's Day so get prepared! Then May 15th is my AP exam which I am praying I pass, and then May 16th is our prom! (Liv and I are on prom committee so we get to go help!)

Let me know down in the comments below what you have going on this month!

Q&A #1

Hey friends! A couple of posts ago I asked you all to leave me questions so I could do an upcoming Q&A and today I'm going to answer all of your questions. I wanted to do this so you guys could get to know me better!

  • What/Who is your inspiration? My inspiration to live everyday is Jesus Christ. Knowing someone loves you and is never leaving is the most comforting thought ever.

  • How do you deal with negativity? Over the past year I have strived to be a more positive person, because when situations get tough my instinct is to think of the glass as half empty. A saying that really helped me stop thinking so many negative thoughts was "Shut the gate."
  • What is your favorite quote?
  • Which movie can you watch again and again? Okay so I have two; Footloose ( the newer version ) and High School Musical ( a childhood favorite )!
  • Do you have any signature item? ( Like perfume or any accessories)  My glasses, haha. But, seriously those and my white high top converse. I love wearing them with dresses, casual but cute.
  • Do you hate anything about fashion? Honestly no, but I do feel as though you have to have the right personality and body type to pull off certain looks.
  • Do you have any phobias? I really hate speaking in front of crowds & you know the usual a serial killer is going to come murder me in my sleep. ( I watch to much of Pretty Little Liars!)

I hope you guys enjoyed this and got to know a little bit more about me! Leave me more questions down in the comment so I can do another one!

Make sure you follow the blog and all of our social media also!

Have a great day!

You are special

Hi guys! I miss you all! Its been a few weeks since I've done a post, so I wanted to give some encouragement to everyone.

I love this verse, Psalm 147:4, because it's God showing us that he loves and cherishes each of his creations. And guess what? We are his creation! So often we listen to society tell us who we are. But God is saying, "I know you! I cherish you, and I love you. You are special. You were made in my image, and therefore you are wonderful." Rest assured in those words! And don't let anyone other than Jesus determine your self-worth.

If you enjoyed this verse, I reccomend reading Psalm 139

Thanks for reading! Have a blessed day.

Skincare Routine for Acne Prone Skin

Hey friends! So today I am finally sharing with you all my skincare routine! This is mainly targeted with those who have acne prone skin like me, but without the benzyl peroxide it would work good with any skin type because I don't like using products that are specifically targeted for acne. My skin doesn't feel as clean and that i'm putting a lot of chemicals on my face.

  • Purity Face Wash by Philosophy :  I've talked about this before, but this is my ultimate favorite face wash ever. It's just an ordinary face wash, but it really feels as if it's cleaning my face. It's hard to explain. I would recommend everyone trying this, especially since it's not even target specifically towards acne prone skin.

  • St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub: I use this to exfoliate about once a week to get rid of all the dead skin cells on my face. After using this it makes my skin feel clean and fresh.

  • Vitamin E Hydrating Toner by The Body shop: Guys, this is my Holy Grail skincare product. I think this toner is the reason my skin has cleared up so much ( mostly just scars now). It feels as if your putting water on your face, but then you look at the cotton ball and am like "Wow all that dirt was really still on my face!"

  • Ponds Nourishing Moisturizing Cream: Honestly, all I have to say about this product is that it does a great job at moisturizing. I've been using this for the past six months and absolutely love it!

  • Neutrogena on the Spot Acne Treatment: This is the only skincare product that I use specifically for my acne. It has benzyl peroxide in it, which helps dry out zits. Benzyl peroxide works better than salicylic acid for me personally.

Let me know if you use any of these skincare products and how you like them! Also, if you have any blog post request/ ideas let us know!

Make sure to follow us and check beck on Thursday for Liv's post!

Pretty Little Liars Season 5 Reaction + Theories

Hey friends! Sooo, Tuesday night was the season 5 finale of PLL. ( if you don't want any spoilers than don't read any further!) We found out who A was, but then again we totally didn't. This post is going to be all about my theories!

  • First of all , which I think was the most shocking reveal of the night.....Mona's ALIVE! When the girls first see her, she is pretending to be Alison and in my honest opinion I thought she went crazy...again. But then later that night when the generator stopped for a few minutes she explained to the girls that she was just pretending and that A had kept her their since she faked her death.
  • Now, it was revealed that A's name is apparently 'Charles'. Well that's great we have a name, but that's all. We don't actually know who he is. In the home movie that Spencer saw it made it appear as if A is Jason's twin. I think he really is, because I remember thinking while watching the season 4 finale, that Jason could have a twin.
When Spencer came face to mask with A she looked like she knew exactly          who it was. Maybe it was just me, but I definitely got that vibe from her.
    • I think Charles is really either Wren, Lucas, or even Ian. We thought we saw Mona dead so obviously Ian can be raised from the dead too.
  • I think Andrew knows who Charles is and is trying to somehow protect the girls by creepily stalking them and their relatives?
  • Finally the Rosewood Police actually believe that the girls are in some real danger. It's about time!

I hope you guys somehow understood my jumble of words. This episode left me even more confused than before. Leave a comment down below if you watch the show and any theories you have. I'd love to hear them!
Let me know if you have any ideas of what I should post about and make sure to follow us so that you will be notified every time a post goes up!

Study Tips & Motivation

Hey friends! Sorry I didn't post on Monday. :( I had lots of school things to do which is kind of ironic considering I'm sharing with ya'll my study tips today!

Just like every other person out there I don't like doing homework and studying, but hey you just have to do it.

Study Tips:

  1. The first thing I always do is make a To Do List. That way you know exactly what you have to do and won't forget anything.
  2. Next get all the supplies you need, a big glass of water, and find a quiet place.
  3. Reward yourself. Every time I finish an assignment I'll let myself either watch a video on YouTube or Netflix.

Favorite Ways to Study:

  • Color coding everything. This helps me remember so much because I can correlate whatever I'm studying to the color pen I'm using.
  • Flashcards & writing it down
  • Acronyms. For my AP I had to memorize where all of the countries in Europe were and their capitals. This was how I got an A on that test. The sillier and more random it sounds, the better it will stick with you.
  • Have someone quiz you or pretend like your teaching the lesson to others.
  • I also like to listen to music while I study.
I hope this has helped some of you! Please comment down below what study tips work best for you!

Something New...

So lately I've been trying to drink more water, but plain ol water just gets boring! So here's a cute, quick idea to liven up your water!

Strawberry Lemon Water! I love to get a huge glass full of icey cold water, slice up some strawberries and lemons, and drink it up!

I typically put around 5 slice strawberries and a couple slices of lemons. Another tip is to fix the fruit water and put it in the fridge so the fruit will infuse into the water and it will taste better :)

I hope you guys enjoyed this quick little post, comment if you love fruit infused water! Or if you want to try some ❤️ don't forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram, @emandlivsblog!

Are you Skipping the Scene that Makes the Story?

Hey friends! So, a couple of weeks ago I went to a youth event at my church. Let me tell you, I had an amazing time! A lack of sleep, but hey that only made it better! One of the sessions we had , the very first, really stuck with me and I wanted to share with you all what I got out of it. ( I would tell you the name of the speaker, but ya know, safety reasons!)
*image is from pinterest, & is located on our 'Pics'. page

Now back to the title; Are you skipping the scenes that makes the story?
When there is a wall in front of me, my natural instinct is to take the easy way; not face it head on with a sledgehammer. But what if those walls we try to get out of destroying head on was a scene God could of used to make a difference in someone else's life? I don't know about you, but that's a pretty big reason of why we should start facing our walls of opposition head on. So, how do we overcome trying to skip the scenes that matter the most to God? Well, for starters we can't face our walls in the distance. No, we have to face them head on.  That's a scary thought, but we don't have to be afraid; God has us! As long as we have people we know will have our back and God , we can face any wall that comes in our path. 2 Timothy 1:7 says

'For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.'

Imagine: You could be THE ONLY ONE to lead someone to Christ, but your too busy skipping the scenes that could make that happen. The ones that matter the most to God.

Next time your faced with a wall of opposition, face it head on with a sledgehammer.

I hope you guys liked this post! If you did it would mean the world to me if you would comment and follow us!

Love ya!

Spring Cleaning!

Hi guys! So today I wanted to talk a little bit about getting ready for spring and summer, in terms of cleaning out your closet, makeup, etc! This week, we will talk about getting your closet ready for warm weather.

Step one: get rid of stuff!
It might be hard to part with items from your beloved closet, buy you need to remember, you haven't worn that top in a year! And does that skirt even fit you anymore? Here's a couple of guidelines to put your clothes through:
-if you haven't worn it in a year, ditch it.
-if it doesn't fit, ditch it.
-do you have anything to wear with it?
After applying those 3 rules to your closet, hopefully you will be ready to move on to step two!

Step two: organize.
I love my closet, so I try to keep everything in order. This topic could be a post all in its own, but I'll just summarize for now.
-if you're closet isn't already organized by item, do it! Shirts together, pants together, etc etc. If you do have your closet organized that way but are looking to step it up a little, break each category down by color. If that sounds too obsessive to you, that's fine too.
-I have racks in my closet, and I use these to put sweatshirts, winter accessories, and more on! If you have any type of racks or shelving, I suggest cleaning those out and fixing them up!
-finally, shoes shoes shoes! I have cubbies that my shoes go in, but that's OK if you don't! It's time to bring out your sandals, maybe donate a pair you don't wear anymore. Put all your sneakers together, get your flats lined up cute.

Step three:
-it's important to remember being organized isn't everything. But it really helps me feel on top of things! Also, I love to organize so that helps too :)

I hope everyone liked my post, please.comment if you did, check back to the blog Friday for part two of Spring Cleaning!

Everyday Makeup Essentials

Hey friends!
Today I'm going to share with you all my everyday makeup routine! I've been doing this look a ton recently and really like it.

  • The first thing I do is of course, conceal my under eye circles. I apply a small amount in a triangle shape and use my Earth Theraputics Beauty Blender to make it look as natural as possible. Then, I mix my Ready Set Gorgeous foundation with my Rimmel BB Cream in the Matte formula and apply both us these with my Beauty Blender as well.

  • I then set my face with a pressed powder from Covergirl and used a blush from NYX in the shade 'Dusty Rose'; a really pretty mauve taupe color.

  • For the eyes the first thing I do is prime them, obviously.

  • For the actual eye look I use my Stila in the Light palette. I've been doing more shimmer looks recently. On the inner third of my lid I put 'Bubbly' gorgeous shimmery gold. On the outer third I used a mix of 'Gilded Gold' and 'Sunset'. Using a blending brush from Sigma I then blended that all over my lid, pulling it into my crease. Lastly I used a matte brown shade in the shade ' Sandstone' in the outer corner and lightly in the crease.
  • Lastly, I finished off with my holy grail mascara!

I hope you guys found this helpful! Comment down below what beauty products you've been loving recently!

Monthly Goals: March!

Hey guys! So, I've decided I'm going to make a series! Each month I will make goals and share them with you. That way I can be more motivated to do it, and hopefully you will too! I will update you each month on how successful I was and any new goals I have.

  • Keep room clean. I'll admit it, my room is a disaster 90% of the time. It's wierd though, my school life is super organized, but not my room. It gets no organization, This month I really want to form a habit of keeping my room clean constantly. Hopefully by putting it on here I will actually do it!
  • Exercise 6 times a week. Lately I've been feeling really sluggish and think it's due to my lack of being active. I'm so tired after school that most days all I want to do is go to sleep.
  • Eat Cleaner. Now this kind of goes along with the one above it, but I want to start treating my body better. I have been eating terrible recently. By eating cleaner I don't mean I'm only going to eat fruits and vegetables. I want to actually be able to read the ingredients of what I'm eating.
  • Stop Procrastinating. Now I'm sure everyone wants to work on this. I simply want to stop stressing out the day before something is due. My goal is to have everything finished 24 hours before its due.
  • Be more Social. I'm an introvert at heart. I gain my energy to be around people by being alone. One of my overall goals for 2015 is to hang out with my friends more and do things out of my comfort zone. So far I've been going strong, but theirs always room for improvement.
  • Read my Bible Daily. I try to make time everyday, but I definitely miss a few here and there. I want to challenge myself to read the bible everyday. No Excuses.
  • Read at Least 3 Books. I love to read, but have been slacking off recently. Reading is one of my favorite ways to relax, so I really want to start reading consistently again.

Comment down below if you want me to continue these posts each month and a goal you want to achieve. We can motivate each other! Make sure you follow us, so you can be notified every time we post.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Having Faith

Hey guys! This week has been busy and I haven't had time to post, but I wanted to share this little nugget with YALL before the weekend!

I always find myself stressing about things when I just need to take a step back, and realize God has everything under control. I am working everyday to have faith in God. I always think that I am the one who has to fix everything, but that's not true, at all! Everything will happen in God's time, for he has perfect timing.

Remember this as you go throughout your weekend! Don't stress, have faith. For everything will happen in God's perfect timing. You don't have to do everything, give it to God!

Where Am I Going!?

Hey friends! Sorry if the title confused you, but no I am not moving. Today I wanted to talk to you about something that has been on my mind a lot recently and is making me frustrated. The future.

Honestly I hate it when people ask me "what do you want to do with your life?" because I have no freaking clue. I do not have a plan, nor will I ever. I am not trying to offend anyone, but we have no control over the future. Only God does. I can plan where I'm going to college, what for, when I'm getting married, where I will live, and every other single detail til the day I die, but if it doesn't line up with the plan God has for me, its pointless. Not knowing what I will be doing 5 years from now could seem scary to some and I'll admit a part of me is. Another part of me is excited. It's the same feeling I get when I go on a roller-coaster (which I love); yeah I'm nervous but the excitement outweighs the nervousness. When you don't have a plan there are so many possibilities of what you can do; who knows maybe I will own a Bed & Breakfast in 10 years.

Obviously, I'm not saying don't think about your future at all, but don't plan it out in so much detail that you lose sight of what God's purpose is for you.

Here's a verse that gives me peace when I get scared about my future:

I hope this post helped some of you guys that may have been struggling with the same thing I am. It's OK not to have a plan. It doesn't mean that your future won't be great. Just trust in God.

Make sure to follow us and comment down below some post ideas for us! I'm kind of running low. :(

How to Style Shoulder Length Hair!

Hey ya'll! I hope you have been having a fantastic week! Today's post is going to be all about how I style my hair. A few weeks ago I went and got it cut ( it was a long bob, but I got it evened out) and darker ( a glaze)! I don't know about you, but I would much rather sleep 30 more minutes than wake up and fix my hair for school every morning. So, instead I give myself 10 minutes max in the morning to fix my hair.

*Now keep in mind I don't do this everyday. I wash my hair every other day and the curls last both days!

To achieve this look all I use is the TRESemme Heat Protectant and the Remington Tstudio Pearl Curling Wand ( 1/2- 1 inch size). This curling wand is amazing and super cheap! I just take random pieces of hair and curl them. I don't really have a set in stone processes. Sometimes I'll put it half up and just curl the bottom half. It kind of just depends on my mood.

Comment down below how you like to style your hair and how long it takes you to do it! Make sure you subscribe and follow all our social media! See you next Wednsday with a post that I'm super excited for you all to see!

Getting Organized: #1

Hey friends! Liv here! So my Wednesday post is going up on a Thursday. Oops! Y'all still love me right? I knew it. Anyways. IT SNOWED a teeeeeeny tinnnnny bit last night where I live! Some of you reading this might roll your eyes at that, but it's always super exciting when it snows here. Even for 10 minutes. As a result of that, we have no school! Kind of rediculous I know, but some schools couldn't get their heating systems to work properly. Therefore, no school for me! Ok ok, I'm done talking about me. Let's get organized!

 Write it down
-so I love to use my planner to organize. The planner is a Mead planner, "Cambridge Edition".

Here's a page in my planner for the upcoming week. I have my planner color coded for events! I knownthatbsounds like a lot of work, but once you get everything set, it's really not! Here's my colors:
Pink: schoolwork
Purple: yearbook
-I'm on the yearbook staff at my school, and since I am super busy with stuff for that class, so I gave it a separate color.
Blue: personal stuff
-I use this one for plans I make, or church, things like that.
Orange: commitments
-this is for work, babysitting, photoshoots, church, etc. basically anything I "commit" to.

Stay consistent.
It's super important to not stop writing stuff down. If you keep up with it, it will become easier and be like a second nature!

Don't forget, won't forget.
I don't know if I'm the only person out there like this, but I'm always forgetting things. Mom always tells me, "you're too young to be forgetting stuff! That's me!" So... But really. I constantly forget about homework or plans or posting on the blog...it just got real. But I want to be real! So I'm telling you to write it down, write it down, WRITE IT DOWN. It sounds a little redundant, but "don't forget, won't forget" is pretty true.

Ok, that's all for this blog post! Stay tuned for the next Getting Organized post on Monday! It's going to be about getting organized in a more technology-ish way.

Comment if you enjoyed this post or found it helpful! Do you guys like a little blurb about what's going on in my life? I'm thinking about doing that each time. Let me know in the comments!

Monday Inspiration

Hey ya'll! I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines Day weekend. I watched A Cinderella Story and ate chocolate!

A Cinderella Story is one of my favorite movies! Its so cute and come on, who doesn't love Chad Michael Murray? As I was watching, this quote really stuck with me.
I notice myself constantly compromising my dreams because I'm afraid of what someone might think or that I might fail. Well, honestly we never know what the future has in store for us. We like to think that, but we don't, so what do we really have to lose from chasing after our dreams?

Always remember that you can succeeded as long, as your willing to try. Make sure to follow us on all our social media and comment down below how you guys perceive this quote and what your dreams are! I would love to know! See ya on Friday!

Beauty Haul & Review

Hey loves! So, a couple of weeks ago I went to Ulta to grab some toner and of course I was drawn to all the makeup and bought more than intended. But hey, I'm sharing my thoughts with you guys. That's justifiable isn't it?

The first product I bought was the CoverGirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation. The consistency of this product is AMAZING, especially if you have oily skin! It helps control the oil all day long and doesn't slide off your face. The only downside is that I got a shade darker than what I actually need so at times it has looked a little orange, but I've been mixing it with my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream to make it work. I would totally buy this foundation as long as you don't have a problem with your foundation oxidizing.

Since CoverGirl was buy one get one 50% off I also got a Smoothers pressed powder in 710, Translucent Light. This works wonderfully with the foundation I got!

Like I've mentioned before I like toners that strictly just clean my face and this one is absolutely perfect for that!

I don't wear eyeliner that often but I want to start using it more, so I bought the cheapest one I could find to start playing around with. It works pretty well, but oddly enough this eyeliner is better for doing winged liner than just a simple line. Depending on what you wear the most I  would give this a whirl.

Luckily I didn't break the bank on this little shopping spree. Let me know in the comments down below if you've tried any of these products or if you have some recommendations for me! Make sure to follow this blog and all our social media. Have a lovely rest of the day!

xoxo, Em

We were asked by two lovely ladies, so we mixed their questions!

1. When did you start your blog and why? We started our blog in November 2014. We always would talk about our favorite products and recipes to each other. Then one day, Liv texted Em and said "Hey. Want to start a blog?" And that was that.

2. One product you can't live without?
    • Em: Mine would definitely be my Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. Iv'e purchased about 5 tubes of it already and will keep going back to it!
    • Liv: My favorite product is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder. Iv'e been using for about 4 years and wear it every single day.
3. Would you rather a book or watch a movie and why? Both of us would prefer to read a book instead of a movie! We've always been book worms, so it's just the natural choice to pick a book!

4. What are three things you've learned in 2014?
    • Em: I learned to be more confident in myself, more social, and take risks!
    • Liv: In 2014, I learned to not let stuff get to me, worry less, and be a light to others for Jesus!
5. What's your favorite store to shop at?
    • Em: Old Navy! They always have cute, trendy, and affordable clothes!
    • Liv: Gap! Seriously, everything I wear is Gap. I'm wearing all Gap right now as we type this post...It's the best!
6. Who inspires you the most?
    • Em: Probably my friends! They always encourage me to try new things, but not in a bad way! :)
    • Liv: My mom! She is my best friend, I tell her everything. She inspires me daily to be the very best that I can be, and to never give up on what you believe in.
7. Top five places you want to visit?
    • Em: NYC, California, Europe, Montana (have you SEEN the pins on Pinterest?), and Hawaii.
    • Liv: Italy, Spain, California, NYC, and Utah (have you SEEN the pins on Pinterest?
8. Three favorite TV shows?
    • Em: Currently, I've been loving Pretty Little Liars, Gilmore Girls, and Bones.
    • Liv: Right now, I love Gilmore Girls, Hart of Dixie, and NCIS New Orleans.
9. How do you relax yourself after a stressful day?
    • Em: I like to read a romantic mystery novel and write all my thoughts down.
    • Liv: I like to take a bubble bath and read a cheesy romance book!
10. What's your favorite candy and/or chocolate?
    • Em: my favorite candy is sour gummy worms, and my favorite chocolate is Lindor Truffles! Yum!
    • Liv: My favorite candy is "Sowa Powa Strips" and my favorite chocolate is Reese's!
11. What are a few of your guilty pleasures?
    • Em: In my spare time, I enjoy dancing around the house with the music blaring, like I just don't care!
    • Liv: I prefer to sing loudly in the shower, and staying in my PJ's all day!
*In case you can't tell over the Internet, #11 is where the sarcasm kicks in.

Here's our questions to you!
